PICKLE BACKS!!!

The origins of the pickle back are unknown to us but we recently visited the Whiskey Tavern in Chinatown and were introduced to the Pickle Back. We’ve never really ever thought of a chaser because whiskey is just plain good,  but since it’s their specialty we figured we would give it a shot. It’s not half bad, I mean it is pickle juice but we are going to leave this one for the pansies, we like our whiskey with no chaser!IMG-20110802-00263

Prohibition Era Trains

Sept.24th & 25th is your last chance to ride a piece of New York City subway history. A marketing genius has by some miracle gotten the MTA museum to release prohibition era trains back to the live rails of the 7th Avenue subway line to promote the return of HBO’s series Boardwalk Empire. These trains, which first rolled into service in 1917, are running on the 2 and 3 line Saturday and Sunday noon-6pm making stops at 96th Street, 72nd Street, and 42nd Street Times Square. Put your beer down and take a ride on one of these before they put them back into the MTA’s rail museum for good.
